Please read all information before submitting a request for us to help a dog. We WANT to help them all, but are just not big enough to help them all. We will try to provide you with resources, you can also find some information in the Education/ Links section.
So you found a stray...BadRap has a very good page (click HERE) on what to do when you find a stray. I will not duplicate it, but I will link to it. We are a SMALL, all volunteer force that does NOT have a facility to house multiple dogs. We can not come and chase down a stray, and in most cases do not have a foster home open to take the one you found. What we CAN do is help you list them, help you screen potential homes, and help you figure out how to get them spayed/neutered and up to date on shots. Thank you for taking the time to help a stray out, we will try our hardest to post for a foster home, but we can not guarantee that we will find one. Please consider fostering the dog you are helping until a furever home comes along. It is a rewarding experience, and you really are saving a life. We gladly answer any questions you have about this, so please email us from the form if you do have any questions.
We do NOT take owner surrenders, however we DO help you list them and screen potential homes. Pit Bull Rescue Central has a great page (click HERE) that talks about rehoming your dog. Please consider keeping them, we offer community education classes, and will help you figure out the problem if it is behavioral. If you are moving, please consider moving to a place where you can keep your dog. We understand that sometimes there are circumstances that you can't control, but your dogs best chance is with you. Please try! If you are military and are getting stationed somewhere that you can't take your dog, please go HERE.
Under NO circumstances do we help rehome a dog that is human aggressive, unaltered, or severely dog aggressive. Human aggression is NOT tolerated in bully breeds, and we will tell you to take them to the vet to have them humanely euthanized if your dog is human aggressive. That might sound harsh, but a human aggressive bully is a huge liability and is not something to take lightly. A bully breed is not supposed to be aggressive in any way toward humans, and we can not help you rehome a dog that has bitten somebody, or shows definite signs of aggression toward humans. We understand that sometimes bully's do not get along with other dogs, but we are not comfortable helping to rehome a dog that shows severe aggression toward other dogs. And finally, unaltered dogs (meaning unspayed or unneutered) will not under any circumstances be rehomed through North Texas Bully Rescue. We will help you find low cost options for altering your pet before adoption. We also require that you follow our guidelines if we are helping you rehome a pet...we do things for the safety of the dogs, so please ask questions if you don't understand, part of our goal is education! Please allow 2-3 business days for replies, we usually get to the emails faster than that, but remember we are all volunteers and are trying our hardest to help these dogs.
If this is an emergency and an animal is hurt, please contact Humane Society North Texas (HERE) to see if they can help you. They provide 24 hour a day emergency care for animals in distress.
